Community and Regional News — August 2023

  • Regional Day of Recollection. Save the date! There will be a Silent Regional Day of Recollection on Saturday, October 21, 2023, to be held once again at the House of Prayer in Napa. The day will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. and conclude after Evening Prayer at 2:00 p.m. Temporary and final professions will be part of the day as well. Read all the details about the Day of Recollection.
  • Drivers Needed. We are in need of drivers for the Day of Recollection. Please contact Marilou if you have room in your vehicle to drive additional people to and from the Carmelite House of Prayer.
  • Community Outreach. Please pray for one of our members whose housing situation is in flux and for another member who recently lost her husband.

Ongoing Formation Homework

  • Mary the Perfect Contemplative: Self-Knowledge and Humility, pages 36-38.
  • Study/Discussion questions: Study Guide, pages 5, questions 15-16. You may also wish to answer the questions for Chapter 1, found in Appendix 1 of the book.

Lectio Divina

Lectio Divina for September 20 community meeting is the gospel reading for the Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time: Matthew 18:21-35.

Prayer Intentions

Please pray for all Carmelites, especially:
  • Our members who are ill and/or inactive
  • All Carmelites who are isolates
  • Our deceased members
