Community and Regional News — June 2023

  • 25 Years in Carmel. Congratulations to Ann S., Catherine W., Susan M. and Alfredina D. for reaching 25 years in the Carmelite Order as Professed Carmelites. At today’s meeting we will present them with certificates to mark the occasion.
  • Novena Reflections. As part of this year's novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel (July 7-15), we will have a short meditation or reflection each day, in addition to the novena prayers. The topic for these reflections is “Mary in the Scriptures.” Thank you to all who have already signed up to give a presentation. Please contact Dianne to find out which days are still available.
  • Novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Our annual novena will be on July 7-15. For the first 8 days of the novena (July 7-14) we will meet in the Fireside Lounge at 7:00 p.m. On the last day of the novena, July 15, we will attend the 8:15 Mass, after which we will enroll all who are interested in the Brown Scapular Confraternity and pass out Scapulars. We will then meet in the St. John’s classroom of the DeSousa House at 9:30 a.m. for the prayers of the last day of the novena. We will have breakfast afterwards at a nearby restaurant. There will be NO evening novena session on July 15.
  • Carmelite Retreat. There will be a Carmelite Retreat at the Carmelite Spiritual Center on July 17-20, 2023, in Darien, IL. Please keep all our Carmelite brothers and sisters in our prayers that they will be filled with much grace and wisdom during this retreat.
  • 2025 Convocation. There is a Convocation of Carmelites at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC on June 27-29, 2025. We will have more details about the Convocation as they become available.
