Community and Regional News — September 2023

  • Regional Day of Recollection. Join the Bay Area Lay Carmelites for a Silent Regional Day of Recollection on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the House of Prayer in Napa. The day will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. and conclude after Evening Prayer at 2:00 p.m. Temporary and final professions will be part of the day as well.
    Day of Recollection details
  • Drivers Needed. We are in need of drivers for the Day of Recollection. Please contact Marilou if you have room in your vehicle to drive additional people to and from the Carmelite House of Prayer.
  • Novena to All Carmelite Saints. The Novena to All Carmelite Saints will be November 5-13. Mass at Holy Spirit Church on November 14, 2023 at 8:15 a.m.

  • Regional Leadership. Congratulations to Christine Campbell, Regional Coordinator and Patrick Bowles, Formation Director who have been reappointed for another 3 years by Provincial Coordinator of Lay Carmelites, Cindy Parazzo. Let’s continue to pray for them as they continue to lead the California San Francisco Bay Area Region of Lay Carmelites.

 

Next Community Meeting

Due to the Day of Recollection in Napa in October, we will not have Community Meeting in October. Our next Community meeting is November 19, 2023

Next Community Meeting: November 19, 2023 in the Fireside Lounge, from 2:00-5:00 p.m.

Ongoing Formation Homework

  • Mary the Perfect Contemplative: The Role of Grace, pages 38-39.
  • Study/Discussion questions: Study Guide, pages 5, question 17. You may also wish to answer the questions for Chapter 1, found in Appendix 1 of the book.

Lectio Divina

Lectio Divina for the November 19 community meeting is the gospel reading for the Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time: Matthew 25:15-15, 19-21.

Prayer Intentions

Please pray for all Carmelites, especially:
  • Our members who are ill and/or inactive
  • All Carmelites who are isolates
  • Our deceased members
